If you want to save to DVD, you need extra software (2009-02-20)
I've owned the MinoHD only for a couple of weeks. It makes reasonably good videos and is fairly easy to use. If you want to send a very short video by email, it works well, but if you want to send something that's longer the software tells you that the video is too long for email. Which means you have to make a DVD, which is not as straightforward as I thought it would be, but I'll come to that in a minute.

As at least one reviewer commented, I don't think you get a full 60 minutes of recording time.

The DVD problem: You either have the choice of paying for the company's online service and have to wait to have the DVD mailed to you, or you have to buy additional third-party authoring software. I'm looking into the latter option now. I have no idea how much that costs. I need to be able to view my videos on computers other than my home computer and there's too much video to use the camcorder itself as a transferring device.

So far, I am not at all impressed by their email technical support. Earlier, I asked a simple question and the response was a paraphrase of what I'd asked without the question mark.

In addition, it takes a long time for the videos to be saved to the computer from the camcorder or to be uploaded into a format that will allow them to be saved to a DVD.

The camera is very useful since it easily fits in my pocket and I have it with me at all times. The quality is great, but I wouldn't call it HD for things like sporting events. If the camera is still, the quality is great.

I was hesitant to purchase this DVD player at first due to the cost and wasn't sure I wanted a Blu-Ray Player. I finally decided to purchase it and got it when it was on sale for $240.00. I like the fact that you can upgrade this player easily. It has worked flawlessly since I purchased it. Set up was simple and easy. However, Samsung should provide a high speed HDMI cable with the product, it is not provided and to get the best quality picture and sound you need one. I think this would be a great selling attribute for them. Overall I am quite satisfied with this product and would recommend it.

Movie Heaven with netflix and the 2500 (2009-02-20)
I have had my 2500 about two weeks now. I paired it with Samsung 67" I worried for the ten days it took to get to me,about the hook up to netflix on the internet,I went to at lest five computer geeks and none knew anything about netflix or the 2500, a day or two before my 2500 came I found on line the book to it, it said I would need a router I picked a cheep wireless one. I used wire from it to my 2500 about fifty feet and had it on stand by, just to be sure I had a geek standing by to. The 2500 came I plug in my ethernet cable to it, the tv came to life with out me turning it on. The 2500 put on the screen just what to do, it did the rest five min I was watching a movie from netflix Oh!! yes the best picture I have ever seen on a tv in my sixty five years. Don't be like me and wait till you are sixty five get one now.

we were amazed from the moment we turned it on. Our kids were yelling,"wow", "Oh my!!!". They were standing up yelling at the TV because they couldn't believe how good the picture was. Definitly worth the purchase. You do have to look for the blu ray dvds. There don't seem to be many in my small town.

Component Video Problem (2009-02-18)
We received the Samsung BD-P2500 yesterday. Installed the firmware updates. Tried to play the Blu-Ray with component video cables but monitor had fifties era diagonal lines. (The component cables worked on another DVD player.) Composite video worked, but why use a lesser video quality on a blu-ray. We reset the player per the instructions. No joy. Tried to contact Samsung customer service. Not able to get a person. Read the online trouble-shooting guide. No help. Re-installed firmware again. Still no joy. Read blogs and online reviews to try and find a solution. No help. I'm grateful for Amazon's return policy. Printed out the UPS return label and returned the unit. I'll just have to buy another device to play NetFlix on our TV.

I own two of these and this was the third one for me to purchase. The first two have been great. This one has many problems and it is not possible to return it to Amazon. (Turns off for no reason, dead places on the screen where the stylus does not work and other problems) Read the fine print on their return policy. (Once you open the box it is yours and cannot not be returned.) I have requested help to get the problems resolved, but never receive any support. Very disappointed in the company that made the product and Amazon who sold it. No help from either one. Shop someplace else.

I'm an industrial engineer and have to say this is my first PDA but can't think in a better one cause this really works with me.

I have to say that I easily have accidentally dropped like 50 times from my shirt bag to the floor when I lay down XD and unit it's a solid pieces well manufactured.... power button stopped working but I can turn it on with anyother of the buttons easily so that's not a trouble.

My Palm E2 died and I didn't want to start all over with new software, so I ordered the Palm TX. It could't hot sync appropriately, once erased my desk top E2 data and had to reinstall software. The tech support was totally inadequate and I am returning it, never again to have anything to do with Palm.

TX is a great helper (2009-02-11)
As a business man and a computer technician mobility is key and its not always that you want to be traveling around with a heavy laptop especially on public transportation. Enter the Palm TX, for installation of wireless networks etc... I am able to test to see the signal loss and blind areas of the network, I'm also able to access the internet and get scematics, info and other information needed to do repairs. As a businessman in the sales arena I can carry my pricelists, product reports, even powerpoint presentations with me no matter where I am I have all the tools to handle almost any job or sale that comes my way. the Con's? well I can only find one so far...the power consumtion for the wireless is really high however if you connect the power supply when using the wireless it doesn't affect the power loss at all. I love my TX for the mobility it gives me in my business, the storage capacity that is a great deal beter than the Palm E2 and finally it looks really good doing all that and even more.

It does everything it says it will quite nicely. We love its ability go shopping or find stores, gas, attractions, etc. Also the "recently visited" and "favorites" is a very nice feature; gets you to recent or saved destinations very quickly. The passenger is happy, too, because they can remove it from the cradle to work with it. The passenger can also work with it while the car is in motion - unlike the factory installed models on cars. The best feature was the Amazon price - much lower than the electronic retailers.

The few downsides are (1) it takes a little longer than I would like to acquire the satellite when you first turn it on, and (2) the screen could be a little larger, or the type bolder and easier to read for aging eyes.

Garmin 760 (2009-02-22)
I already have a Garmain 360 but I relinguished this to my son for his travels so I needed to replace mine. The 76 is just as easy to use and it has added feature of having that extra stop in your route which is very convenient to use. I also like the posted speed limit to show up on the screen because you sometimes don't know in unfamiliar streets. I would recommend this product.

NOT THRILLED (2009-02-22)
I was so happy to get my new GPS. I am not a gadget person but felt this would be quite useful. This one would do everything I thought I needed. I guess maybe it did, but often took a long time to find a satellite....sometimes as long as 20 minutes. It was new, so I was testing it wherever I went and often I was at my destination just as the voice came on. Amazon replaced it, which I thought was wonderful, but the second one had the same problem. Once working it did get me where I wanted to go and it was accurate, (thus the two stars) but I returned it because I felt it was taking much too long to begin operating.

A very good product with room for improvement (2009-02-22)
There are a lot of reviews for this product and I don't have much to add to the basic functionality but can confirm that the 760 has a) very fast tracking of satellites, b) is quite accurate (with the occasional minor glitch that is mostly based on its 50 ft resolution) and c) does an overall very good job at its basic GPS function.

Some usability comments:

* the software needs to have a HOME button on each screen. It's quite ridiculous that users are forced to press BACK up to 10 times to get out of the sub-sub-sub-sub level of the tools menu.

* the radio function is, indeed, useless, as almost everybody here states. However, what very few people mention is that there is a much better feature: the headphone (=analog output) jack, which can be used to connect the GPS to an analog input of your stereo (more and more cars have that in a convenient location). I hooked it up to my partner's VW Jetta, which has an input jack in its glove compartment and the sound is very good. The GPS plays music and audio books (which she loves) and interrupts both for directions, as needed. Now I wish I could find a hidden opening in the dashboard to make the cables disappear...

* Software updates take a very long time. Transfer of 2 GB of map data took about 45 minutes over a USB 2 connection, which should be faster. Transfer of music and audio books can be much faster when using the additional memory card in the PC's card reader. I bought a 16 GB card, which holds about 150+ albums with plenty of room for more audio books.

* Browse the Garmin website for more vehicles, including a donut (it's supposed to be a cake, but really looks like a donut), pirate ship, tank and other funny stuff...

* Additional maps (Europe etc) should be much cheaper than the $150 and I was surprised that the aftermarket for specialty maps (tourist attractions, hiking routes etc) is quite limited.

* For the amount of money this unit costs, there should be a carrying case, Garmin really cheaped out on that!

JUST BOUGHT AND AM HAPPY SO FAR (2009-02-21)
Just got my Nuvi 760 this week. This is the first GPS unit I have ever purchased. Set up was easy, although some function require a little search. Bluetooth set up was kind of weird, although I cannot say I strictly followed the protocol. Actually, it was was about the same as when I set up my Bluetooth earpiece. It works with my Samsung phone. Dialing in a number worked, but when I used he Call Home function, I got a cannot connect default from my phone carrier. Selecting from the phone worked well and speaking hands free worked, too. Navigation looks fine for major trips, although I notice that some misdirection on a couple of trips. It had me passing the only entrance to a hotel to go through a major intersection and back to the front entrance instead of taking an early turn to the side road into the hotel. I was able to download the map update off the Garmin website without difficulty. The maps look up to date (v. 2009.1) for this area (N. Virginia) where there is massive construction around I-95. I tried the radio and MP3 connection and it works, maybe only slightly worse than my IPOD. With so many radio stations in this area, finding a clear channel is difficult even with the IPOD. The FM traffic function gave me warnings but I wasn't able to assess how accurate they were since my trip took me off the road before I got to the backup. I downloaded a number of MP3 files and they worked without a glitch. I downloaded a Mapquest route which I had modified on-line to set preferred routing, but the nuvi recalculated based upon the start/end locations and did not accept the mods. Since I have some tricky routes through NJ/NY on my way to New England, that was a bummer since I plan to send my wife alone that way. Anyway, this is an initial assessment after just a couple days use. We'll see it if holds up and works when I go somewhere I don't know how to get to.

probably the best $300 I've spent in a long time. The graphics could use an update, but the Ipod functions work perfect and DVD playback has a good picture and easy menus. Get the wiring harness and face plate adapters from Crutchfield and you're set. Several display color options, so it looks perfectly stock in my 4runner.

Great camera HORRIBLE software and support (2009-02-21)
Purchased this camera for my wife at Christmas due to its affordable price and ease of use. Although the camera itself works like a charm, you do get what you pay for. The included software completely refuses to load on my wife's Win XP computer and technical support at Flip has been completely worthless, communicating only via email (no listed support line) and simply sends the same generic system requirements email each time. The technical forums on the web are littered with people having the same issue but still no response from Flip.

If you have a computer running anything but Win XP SP2, you should be ok, otherwise prepare to own a useless video camera.

Software and Support Problems (2009-02-19)
I loved the concept of the Flip Video and taking videos was as promised. My problem came when the software on the flip would not automatically load as promised on the PC. It didn't work on a MAC, a Gateway running Vista, and a Dell running Windows. I figured something was wrong with the software on the camera and worked for over three days with Flip support without ever solving the problem. They felt the problem was with the computer and I told them after trying three different computers the problem had to be the camera. I loaded new software from their web site and connected the camera to upgrade the software. The program ran for over six hours and crashed (this happened twice). I am now packing up the camera and returning it to Amazon. I agree with a previous comment on the quality of the memory. I also wonder how good the quality control at Flip is.

This little camcorder is seriously worth the money. I have had all sizes of camcorders and currently own a Mini-DV camcorder, too. Here's why I adore this little thing:
1. It's little. It stores in a cellphone pouch and stays in my purse. Therefore, I have it when I need it.

2. It's easy to use. You turn it on and hit the red button. That's it. It has a little zoom capability, not a lot. I wish there were a little more zoom, but I can live with it.

3. To get the video onto my computer, I flip the little USB arm out from the side of the camera and plug it in. Awesome. It even comes with software for both a PC and a Mac that works pretty darned well.

4. Sturdy - so far. Like I said, it stays in my purse PLUS my kiddo uses this to shoot video of all kinds of crazy things and this little camcorder is still working great.

5. No fuss. It records 60-minutes. I thought that would be cutting it close as far as record time goes but I've not reached the limit yet. I tend to download my videos about once a week so I imagine if you left them on there for a long time they would build up. I take this to my son's sporting events to capture quick little videos to send to family. A hour has been plenty of time for me.

6. I'm mostly surprised by the quality of the video. I was truly surprised. I expected it to be better than a cellphone video of course but didn't expect it to be this good.

I'm more than pleased and if I ever accidentally break this one, I'll surely get another. Great value.

Worth every penny. (2009-02-14)
I purchased the Flip Ultra video about a month ago and have no regrets.I have used it on the golf course, fishing , and getting videos of my 6 month granddaughter. It is easy to use, download, and send videos and a great price through Amazon with free shipping. Don't get me wrong, this is not a high dollar ($300+) video camera, but for it's intendened use it is a great little item.

This little camera is great for anyone on the go needing easy, quick pics and portability. As a professional photographer, there are times when the large DSLR is just too much to lug around for informal snapshots or short trips via air with carry on only. My only complaints - it has a slow recovery when shooting flash pictures and fill flash is not user friendly to activate for backlit pics. However for the price it is hard to beat with great optics and overall ease of use.

Great player bang for the buck. (2009-02-21)
I recently upgraded to HD (1080P). I stuck with all Sony brand name equipment so I could take advantage of the Bravia Sync. This player was a great deal on amazon for $320.00 when I purchased it.

I can open the player, insert a movie and go sit on the couch. The receiver and the telivision will automatically switch to the proper inputs and outputs for the movie to play and have surround sound from the receiver.

Most people I've talked to don't understand that the only 1080P source available is a Blu-Ray player and this one is the best bang for the buck. The older player is much slower and has to be upgraded and have memory added to be capable of doing what this unit can. The higher priced units cost more than twice what I paid and don't offer any features that I could tell the difference in the movie experience.

It was a no brainer for me.

Doesn't play most burned DVD's (2009-02-21)
According to their claims, Sony says this will play burned DVD's- well, I can trll you the one I got does not. They all seem to skip and cannot scan early on in the disc. They do seem to improve later. It does play all normal Blu-Ray or DVDs but if you have any burned DVDs and you plan to use this as your end all player- think again

I purchased this player right before christmas and so far am very happy with it. The picture quality is superb which surpasses a DVD player. You could check your player's firmware version through system setting and If the last three digits of the version number is less than 015, you could contact Sony's web site and download an updated firmware or request a cd to upgrade your player.

Great player for the price (2009-02-21)
This was purchased to replace a BDP-S300 in our living room. Much faster startup, and supports the new HDMI 1.3 spec allowing our tv to control the player. Amazon has it for a great price, and overall a significantly better player than the first gen devices (BDP-S300 and BDP-S500). The BD-Live feature is a bonus but not necessary, the internet firmware upgrades makes it much easier than burning a disc everytime a new update comes out. The only complaint is the unit seems to be built much cheaper than the older players, smaller, more flimsy compared with the older Sony units. This seems to be a trend even with Samsung and Sharp.
